Lenalid 25 — Lenalidomide 25 mg
Lenalid 25 mg is the highest strength capsule of the immunomodulator Lenalidomide.
Manufacturer: Natco Pharma (India). Generic equivalent of Revlimid.
Clinical Use:
This is the recommended starting dose for most patients with Multiple Myeloma who have normal renal function. It provides the maximum therapeutic effect to halt tumor progression and induce remission.
✅ Key Benefit: The gold standard for first-line and relapsed myeloma therapy.
Indicated for:
- Multiple Myeloma (MM): In combination with Dexamethasone. Used in newly diagnosed patients and those who have received at least one prior therapy.
- Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL): For patients whose disease has relapsed or progressed.
Strength: 25 mg capsule.
Standard Cycle (28 Days):
- 📅 Days 1-21: Take one 25 mg capsule once daily.
- 📅 Days 22-28: Rest period (no medication).
⚠️ ADMINISTRATION:
- 💊 Swallow whole with water. Teratogenic hazard: Do not open or break capsules.
- Renal Alert: If Creatinine Clearance is < 60 mL/min, the dose must be reduced to 10 mg.
🚫 PREGNANCY WARNING (Category X):
Lenalidomide is structurally related to Thalidomide. It causes severe life-threatening birth defects. Strict pregnancy prevention programs must be followed by both men and women.
Also Contraindicated in:
- Severe hypersensitivity to the drug.
- Breastfeeding.
At 25 mg, toxicity monitoring is crucial:
- Severe Neutropenia/Thrombocytopenia: Grade 3-4 hematologic toxicity is common. Weekly blood counts are required for the first 8 weeks.
- Venous Thromboembolism: High risk of clots. Antithrombotic prophylaxis is mandatory.
- Fatigue and Rash.
