Viraday is a fixed-dose combination antiretroviral medication. Contains: Efavirenz (600 mg) + Emtricitabine (200 mg) + Tenofovir Disoproxil (300 mg).
Manufacturer: Cipla (India). Generic equivalent of the well-known drug Atripla.

Viraday combines a Non-Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (NNRTI) with two NRTIs. It is one of the most widely used and clinically validated HIV treatments globally, offering a complete regimen in a single tablet.

Indicated for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents (weighing at least 40 kg).
It acts by preventing the virus from multiplying in the body, helping the immune system stay strong.
Standard Dosage: One tablet taken orally once daily.
⚠️ CRITICAL ADMINISTRATION GUIDE:
- 🌙 Take at Bedtime: Taking the pill right before sleep helps mitigate central nervous system side effects (dizziness, drowsiness).
- 🚫 Empty Stomach is a MUST: Take at least 2 hours after a meal. Taking Viraday with food (especially high-fat meals) increases Efavirenz absorption, leading to severe dizziness and vivid dreams.
- Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
- Pregnancy (Potential teratogenic risk) and breastfeeding.
- Psychiatric History: Use with caution in patients with a history of severe depression or psychosis.
- Hypersensitivity to Efavirenz.
Most side effects subside after 2-4 weeks of therapy:
- CNS Effects: Dizziness, vivid or strange dreams, insomnia, trouble concentrating ("foggy head").
- Rash: Mild to moderate rash is common.
- Renal: Monitor kidney function due to the Tenofovir component.
