Reditux 500 (Rituximab) 500 mg
Reditux 500 (Rituximab 500 mg/50 ml) is a monoclonal antibody therapy targeting CD20 antigen.
Manufacturer: Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. Reditux is a widely used biosimilar of MabThera (Rituxan). This 500 mg vial offers a convenient dosage for standard adult treatment protocols.
Mechanism of Action ("Targeted Destruction"):
Rituximab binds specifically to the CD20 antigen located on B lymphocytes. Once bound, it flags these cells for destruction by the body's own immune system (cell-mediated cytotoxicity). It acts like a guided missile against cancerous B-cells.
✅ Key Benefit: Standard of care for many B-cell malignancies and autoimmune diseases.
Indicated for treatment of:
- 🎗️ Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL): Follicular lymphoma and Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL).
- 🩸 Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).
- 🦴 Rheumatoid Arthritis: For patients with inadequate response to TNF-inhibitors.
- Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (Wegener’s).
Dosage Form: 50 ml Vial (Concentration 10 mg/ml = Total 500 mg).
⚠️ ADMINISTRATION PROTOCOL:
- IV Infusion Only: Must be administered as a slow intravenous infusion. NEVER as a push or bolus.
- This vial size (500 mg) is typically used for full dose administration based on body surface area (BSA).
